Reimagining Evangelism in a Disenchanted Era: Insights from San Francisco to Revitalize Outreach Amidst Shifting Beliefs
In 1990, only 8% of all Americans claimed no religious affiliation. Today, nearly a quarter of them do. Fewer Americans are participating in organized religion, yet they often engage in spiritual practices from secular sources. Come hear about these unprecedented shifts and what we are discovering in San Francisco about sharing the gospel.
Katie Dudgeon, Director of Strategic Ministry, EFCA West

When Revitalization Becomes Your Calling:
Healthy Pastors, Healthy Churches
It may come as a surprise, but the church you lead is either currently in need of renewal or soon will be. Like all organizations churches need to be regularly refocused, refreshed, and renewed, but only about 12% of pastors are naturally hardwired to pull this off.

Seminary may have prepared us for ministry but did it prepare us for effective pastoral leadership? There is hope for us and our churches, and the Lord wants us to lead the way!

Did you know that there are essential church-health measures that must be pursued in order for a church to be healthy and effective? And, just as important as knowing what to do, pastors must also understand how to do it; we must know how to lead our churches to vibrant new life.

In this seminar you will not only learn what needs to be done in order to see your church become healthy and effective but also how to lead the process of renewal. These are proven pastoral leadership best practices that you need to successfully reinvigorate your church. Healthy pastors lead to healthy churches!
Jim Rodden, Lead Pastor, Journey Church, Tucson AZ

Tethered to the Text of Scripture, Grounded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ: Theological and Ecclesiological Tendencies, Trends and Trajectories
We are encouraged to “watch your life and doctrine closely” (1 Tim. 4:16). We are “to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). We are to be approved workmen,  one who “correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15). And from this foundation, we build up the body of Christ “so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes” (Eph. 4:14). In this session, we will address ways in which doctrinal truth is being affirmed in broader Evangelicalism, and we will also address ways in which doctrine is being questioned, undermined, or denied.
Greg Strand, Director of Theology and Credentialing, EFCA

How to Build a Youth Ministry Team that will LAST
It is hard at times to know how to recruit and keep a great youth ministry team. In fact, there are some seasons for youth leaders that their volunteer team is the greatest challenge that faces them. In this breakout you will be given the tools and principles that you need to successfully identify, develop, and disciple an effective and long-lasting youth ministry team.
Mike Szoradi, EFCA West ReachStudent Ministries Leader, Family Life Pastor, Compass Church, Goodyear AZ

When the Unthinkable Happens
We never really think about the unthinkable happening to us or our church because, well, it's unthinkable. Yet unthinkable things do happen. In this workshop, you will hear from pastors at one church where the unthinkable did happen - the sudden accidental death of a staff member - and some of the difficulties and lessons learned as a result. The workshop will also include insights into processing such grief in our churches and communities.
Tim Johnson, Associate Pastor, Hillside Community Church, Porterville CA
Ray Gurunian, Lead Pastor, Hillside Community Church, Porterville, CA

What Pastors and Board Members Need to Know About Each Other
Many churches experience conflict between the lead pastor and the church board. This does not need to be so.  Oftentimes conflict is rooted in unmet expectations by the pastor, by the church board, or by both. What Pastors and Board Members Need to Know About Each Other will provide some ideas and anchor points that can help church leaders turn corrosive conflict into effective dialog.
Bob Osborne, Director of Church Health, EFCA West
